Posted by KG in Pakistan.

Today’s article in the Post’s Travel section about Iran sent me back to my all too brief travels in Pakistan, specifically the trip to the Swat Valley.

Getting to Swat took some doing, but we managed. And when we got there, I was deeply struck by the hospitality and warmth of the people I met. Beyond the natural beauty element (which was, granted, amazing) it was wonderful meeting people who may or may not have ever seen, let alone spoken to, an American. Visiting the village girl’s school near our hotel provided one of those moments. The students were so sweet and so shy. I hope they grow up to a happy future.

Some love Europe, others the beach. Personally, I can’t wait to get back out to the remote places and see sights many Americans haven’t seen.

I’m feeling really nostalgic tonight. Can you tell?
