Art Museum, Chattanooga

Did I mention I went to Chattanooga?

(Let’s get one thing out of the way, quickly: I saw no trains.  There’s some sort of Historic Chattanooga Choo-Choo museum, but I didn’t get over there.  Sorry!)

I spent about 24 total hours in Chattanooga proper, just enough time for three meals, one long briefing, and a slow, meandering walk I was later told was “all over the city” (elapsed time: two hours).  It was a relatively picturesque town with an alarmingly familiar looking aquarium, some very cheap and delicious restaurants, and the odd looking art museum pictured above.  The hotel I stayed in — the Sheraton Read House — was excellent, though their designation of Al Capone as a “luminary” still confuses me.   It’s probably not a tourist destination, but if you find yourself headed to the ‘noog (seriously: there was a column in the local alt-weekly titled “Life in the ‘Noog”), there are definitely worse places to be.

Happily Leaving Atlanta

Speaking of which, I also spent about 24 hours in Atlanta.  The above was taken at the while driving Tennessee-ward.  Work meetings aside, that was the highlight of my trip.

Chattanooga was home for a while. Not a bad town, but glad I live elsewhere. Happy New Year!
