Sunset at the Chinese Nets

Pulling ropes on an ancient Chinese fishing net, eating fresh green peppercorns straight off the tree, seeing billboards emblazoned with the face of Che Guevara. with slogans in unintelligible Malayalam. Walking into shops to find a hilariously racist piggy bank, an enormous racing boat, and a wall full of Kathakali masks. Touring an ancient synagogue in an area unironically called Jewtown. Three days of seafood! A languid, luxurious boat trip on slow waters. All in Kerala, a place the locals call God’s Own Country. And I’m not inclined to disagree with the slogan.
